Area Information:

Lalibela Game Reserve is located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, close to Port Elizabeth and Addo, which means it is not only malaria free, but spans 5 ecosystems, resulting in a breath-taking diversity of flora and fauna.

Property Facilities:

Our location in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa makes us a perfect extension to the Garden Route and Cape Town. Cape Town and Port Elizabeth airports allow visitors to South Africa to save precious holiday time - many of our guests fly into Cape Town, drive along the Garden Route and end with a safari at Lalibela. Check out time at Lalibela allows for guests to fly out of Port Elizabeth and connect with international flights from either Cape Town or Johannesburg, which depart in the evenings.
Increasingly, people are choosing to have their safari in a malaria-free area. The Eastern Cape is malaria-free, which means that your safari at Lalibela can be enjoyed without having to take any anti-malaria medication. Enjoy your African safari in a malaria-free game reserve in South Africa.

The cast-iron highlight of our trip across South Africa. We loved this place. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty and looked after superbly. The food was fine, the social aspect of the dining was excellent. the staff were wonderfully attentive, and don't get me started on the game drives which were just amazing. Big Kudos to Ryan who was so knowledgeable and skilled, but also to the whole team who couldn't do enough. Will definitely be booking again.

What can I say? This was the most exciting experience ever. Ryan our ranger was very knowledgeable and mindful of the animals. He aims to get you to view all the animals in the reserve.

When you arrive, you are brought to your room (stand alone hut) and lunch is served at 2.30 to all guests. You are then brought out on your evening safari at 4pm where you can enjoy a drink at sunset. Upon returning you are greeted by staff with a warm face cloth and drink. Dinner is served about 7.30/7.45pm. All meals are served as buffet. We had the all inclusive package and the drink was free flowing. At 5.30am you receive a wake up call at your room. A light breakfast is served at 6am and 6.30 you go on your morning safari. You return to brunch at 10am.

The room was kept exceptionally clean and we never used the same face cloth twice. Exceptionally good hair dryer provided

Wifi only in communal areas
Bug spray and ant spray provided
Beautiful views

A once in a lifetime escape!

Chose this as it was good for families (we have a 12yr old and a 9yr old) and because the food was supposed to be good.

Check in was seamless and the room we had was lovely (Mark's Camp). We stayed two nights and did three game drives. Didn't do the fourth as our daughter was ill and we needed to get medical care.

The game drives were very good and Walker, the guide, was brilliant. Very lucky to see a close encounter with an elephant at the watering hole right next to the swimming pool!

Food was excellent and the staff were lovely.

I have visited here on 2 occasions, and hope that I have further opportunities. This reserve is one of the best. From accommodation to food, to game viewing, staff and service it is a great experience for guests. Don't hesitate to book here!

We are an Irish couple that a travel agent suggested to stay in Lalibela on our trip to SA. We stayed for 3 nights and got so many game rides in. From the minute you step onto the grounds of Lailbela you are treated like royalty. Every member of staff we encountered here had amazing customer service.

We were very lucky and seen a lot of amazing animals on our game rides. Our ranger knew an amazing amount about all of the animals. We stayed in the lodges and it looked over the watering hole and two hippos based themselves there for our stay. We seen two herds of elephants passing through the watering hole at our lodge. This was just amazing.

Honestly can’t find one fault in our stay here. Would recommend Lalibela to anyone looking to go for the best experience in game rides.

We would rate Tree Tops 6 stars if we could! After arriving following a 24 hour journey, we were provided with refreshments and were told our first game drive was in 30 minutes!

The accommodation itself was fantastic - we genuinely couldn’t have hoped for a better balance between luxury and personal. Our room was large yet cozy with a great view from the balcony.

The service at the lodge was simply brilliant - the staff are polite, friendly and always willing to provide refreshments! As for the food......wow! A delicious selection of fruit, cheeses, local meats, home made breads - you name it, Treetops provides it. Suffice to say I won’t be going anywhere near the scales for a while.

Now, the safari experience. We were lucky enough to be out and about on our first game drive within 30 minutes of arriving. Our hearts were set on seeing elephants - a dream come true in the evening sunset on our first night. The game drives continued to be an absolute pleasure and better than we could have hoped for. Our Ranger (Peter) was incredibly knowledgeable and super friendly - and tolerant of many silly questions from ourselves.

Huge thanks to the Treetops team - we will be back!

Mills Manor is a hidden gem! Faultless, attention to detail, luxurious, amazing - these are some words that spring to mind. For those looking for exclusivity and wanting to share nature and wildlife experiences with friends or family, booking Mills Manor is the way to go. The lodge can accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 bedrooms and guests have the privacy of their own ranger, butler, chef etc.

Well I’m finding this review very difficult to write without looking like I work there.
From the moment we arrived at reception, we were greeted by friendly, knowledgeable, great staff.
We stayed at Marks Camp and found that it was better than our expectations. With dietary requirements for my partner sometimes difficult, these guys definitely stepped up to the plate.
Then there was the Safaris, WOW! Very hard to put into words how good this place is. Saw so much, the experience was amazing.
Our lodge Manager Rene was terrific and was aware before we arrived that I had planned to propose to my partner in the game reserve. What she and the rest of the staff managed to pull together for the special day was better than what I could have dreamed of.
Craig our ranger was so experienced and knowledgeable that there was nothing that he didn’t know and helped make the whole experience “An Experience of a Lifetime”.
Would highly recommend this place for a Safari trip. All of these guys behave like they are 1 big family and not work colleagues.
We are already thinking of returning in a few years.
Thank you all at Lalibela for a wonderful time.
