Swellendam, Gateway to the Garden-Route and Route 62.

Tucked just off Swellendam’s main road, this comfortable, safe, friendly and affordable eighteen-bedroom Guest House has been completely renovated and is tastefully furnished with all modern facilities. Seventeen rooms are individually styled, but similar in size, comfortably sleeping 2 people; the other is a family or group bedroom.
In Room Facilities:
Rooms are equipped with most modern comforts including air-conditioning TV, DStv, Wi-Fi, honesty bar and coffee / tea making facilities.

Area Information:
If you want a perfect setting for a holiday, honeymoon, business trip or a base from which to travel, we provide an unforgettable experience. Swellendam is the 3rd oldest town in South Africa & offers you natural beauty with spectacular views. We like to think of Swellendam as the gateway to the Garden Route as well as Route 62.

Property Facilities:
Our facilities include the large swimming pool, with a deck area for sunbathing and relaxing. As well as a restaurant to cater to guests’ dining needs, our leisure facilities include a travel desk, free Wi-Fi, a small souvenir & gift shop, spacious seating areas and large outdoor swimming pool and deck area, for your further pampering, a small gym, sauna and a bicycle wash bay.
Aan de Eike is situated on our Swellendam ‘strip’ or ‘tourist mile’ therefore close to our museum and historic sites, supermarkets, post office, hiking, cycling routes and East side entrance to the town, from the N2 national road.

Attractions:
During your stay, enjoy our swimming pool, deck and ‘braai’ area with a sundowner in hand for golden hour, “cheers-ing” to the setting sun!
A Historic walk perhaps, for those of you who love history. Our Historic Walk Guide takes you around the national monuments, museum and historic attractions in town. For more information and a guide ask at reception
Golf:
a 9-hole Golf Course, in excellently maintained, picturesque scenery of the Langeberg Mountains.
Berry Picking and Liquor tasting at the Berry and Wildebraam Farms:
The Berry Farm grows youngberries, blackberries and blueberries and during harvest time you can pick your own!
Rain Forest Day Spa:
Our own South African Fair Trade body and bath product brand RAIN, has launched their very first Spa with Soul Concept in the historic picturesque town of Swellendam.
Bukkenburg Pottery Studio:
There is a large variety of pottery available and if you are lucky you may be able to spot the potters at work.
Sport facilities:
Hiking, Bowling, Mountain biking, Golf, Running routes, Horse Riding.
Horse Riding:
We have fantastic riding trails in and around Swellendam that will leave you breathless and longing for more!
Marloth Nature Reserve:
Wonderful walks to waterfalls, indigenous forest and even go to top of the Langeberg Mountains, with various day trails, ranging from easy, short walks to more strenuous, longer hikes. These trails lead into the shady green indigenous forest, where cool pools and waterfalls wait to be discovered.
Bontebok Park:
Cape Mountain Zebra, Bird watching, enjoy a walk in the park, Round trip 30km.
De Hoop Nature reserve:
This beautiful reserve is a favourite for hikers, cyclists, and bird and whale watchers. The reserve, which is 34 000 hectares, is just an hour and a half from Swellendam, a Round trip of 150km, mostly on gravel road.
Malgas Ferry/Pontoon:
This is something out of a story book. The Malgas Pont, as it is known is famous as the only hand-drawn pont, and the last of its kind, in South Africa. Guys harnessed, pulling the ferry across the river from six to six. If you’re in the area it’s well worth the experience and the kids will enjoy it.
Robertson Wine Valley:
Representing over 50 wineries from the towns, Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor and Robertson. Amongst the leading wine regions of the world, recognised for its wine, experiences and practices.
Cape Agulhas:
Southern most point in Africa. Visit the shipwreck museum and Kapula Candles. Round trip of 240km.
Montagu:
Hot springs or do a ride with tractor to the top of the mountains. Round trip 260km.
Tradouws Pass:
Absolutely worth it! Drive through the Langeberg Mountains into the little Karoo. Drive through Suurbraak to Barrydale and back a round trip of 90km. Barrydale offers wonderful experiences, great lunch spots and festivals throughout the year.
Beaches:
Infanta, Witsand, Arniston, Struis bay, all roughly an hours and half’s drive from Swellendam.
