Welcome to The Cockpit,

This charming bolt-hole in the historic heart of Franschhoek, welcomes you with its warm village-cottage charm its comfortable, over-sized sofas; mezzanine bedroom with king size bed and bookshelves loaded with novels, cookbooks and travel guides, will have you feeling instantly at home and relaxed.

Opening out onto a lush-green, secluded, townhouse-style garden with splash pool, this cosy cottage sleeps two people in a King-sized bedroom tucked into the eaves. Decorated in a wash of creams, blues and yellows, reminiscent of an English cottage, with portraits of the owner’s days as a glider pilot, this little cottage is a quiet, comfortable and unpretentious base from which to explore Franschhoek’s sophisticated restaurants, galleries, markets and shops – which are all just up the road.

The village vibe and how safe it is. Also, everyone can walk to where they want to go, instead of getting into a car every time.

What a fantastic experience on the Franschoek Wine Tram! 10 stars from us. Take some time to research which estates you would like to visit to choose the best route. We chose the Grey route and stopped at Franschoek Cellar, Leopards Leap and Rickety Bridge as these were all child friendly options. We will definitely be back without the kids ;) Also, great service and food at the River Café.
