Makhasa offers a roomy bush break in the lush Zululand region of Northern KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Through the gate of & Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, Makhasa offers tranquil lodging accented by the sights and sounds of the bush, as part of the greater Munywana Game Reserve.
Luxuriate in the bush in one of six private rooms crowning the central lodge area. Shaded wooden walkways link the suites together. Guests will be sure to have a memorable stay in our comfortably furnished safari accommodation, well situated near a prime waterhole location for game viewing opportunities.
Enjoy three wholesome meals a day prepared by our on-site chef. Guests can choose from two seasonal meal options crafted from locally sourced produce. If you have specific dietary requirements, please inform us upon your booking.

Phinda Game Reserve and Zuka Game Reserve, as well as other properties and farms, form part of the World renowned Munywana Game Reserve. The Makhasa Nature Reserve was recently included when fences were dropped with Phinda Game Reserve, to create a larger conservation area.

Very nice! the game ranger was very good and took us to very good sightings.
In evaluating the total experience we consider price, accessibility, accommodation quality and appointments, staff attitude and efficiency, service, food, game-drive vehicles and the terrain with its variety and density of viewable game. In every respect we were 100% happy with our visit to Makhasa. Heavy rain had presented severe challenges to the lodge management but they still managed to provide an experience that will definitely see us returning for another visit. In the context of upmarket luxury game lodges, Makhasa offers the very best value for money.
