On top of the escarpment of the Roggeveld mountains, Blesfontein Guest Farm is situated 28 km southwest of Sutherland in the quiet and remote Tankwa Karoo of South Africa's Northern Cape.
Blesfontein Guest Farm offers accommodation in units that can accommodate between 2 to 4 people. The old buildings on the farm and most of the stone-built stables were converted into rather unique and basic accommodation with the necessary facilities and amenities for self-catering. Breakfast can be arranged on request at an additional cost.
Guests have a choice of open-plan, 1 or 2-bedroomed units that are furnished with a combination of double, single beds, bunk beds or sleeper couches and have private bathrooms with showers or baths. Some of the units have a private kitchen with an electric or gas stove, a living area and a built-in braai or cosy fireplace. A cleaning service is available on request at an additional cost. For a large group or family, the North and South Farmhouse can be booked by opening the doors between the 2 units to create one big house.
Blesfontein Guest Farm also offers a large communal area with beautiful views across the farm. Guests are welcome to use the dartboard, table tennis, relax on comfortable couches while reading from the small library and enjoy the free Wi-Fi.
At night, guests can go stargazing at the amateur observatory which offers 2 telescopes and during the day, guests can enjoy the freedom the farm has to offer. Guests can bring their own 4x4 or hire the guest farms to take a scenic drive to the viewpoint at the escarpment where springbuck, blesbuck, grey reedbuck, zebra, steenbok and black wildebeest can be seen as well as tortoises, a meerkat family and several bird species.
Blesfontein Guest Farm has a small farm shop for basics such as milk and eggs, local wine, home-grown Alpaca wool and Alpaca dolls and home-made jams and preserves in season. Firewood is not included provided can be purchased at the farm shop.
There is MTN signal at the farmhouse, on high areas of the farm and on parts of the road between Sutherland and Blesfontein. Vodacom and Cell-C are only available in Sutherland. There is free Wi-Fi at the hotspot on the farm in the communal room.
Please note, Blesfontein Guest Farm is a working farm with lots of farm animals and resident wildlife and guests are welcome to interact with them. Please note, Blesfontein Guest Farm is not pet-friendly.
