Welcome to Ai Aiba - The Rock Painting Lodge, a place of unimaginable beauty and history.
Set afoot massive granite rock boulders, overlooking the magically beautiful Erongo mountain range, is Ai Aiba - The Rock Painting Lodge.

In Room Facilities:

Accommodation consists of 10 thatch roofed chalets offering 20 luxurious twin rooms. Each with private patio, en-suite bathroom.

The rooms are tastefully furnished in African style with air-conditioning and a safe for valuables. Laundry service is available.

Area Information:

The lodge is situated within the Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy. The Conservancy comprises 29 privately owned farms, covering an area of over 200 000 hectares, that have joined together in order to protect an area of incredible bio-diversity. The Erongo Mountains have particular importance in Namibia, as they host a vast array of plant, reptile, mammal and bird species that are endemic or near endemic to Namibia. Some examples of these include the Black Mongoose, Angolan Dwarf Python, White Tailed Shrike, Hartlaub's Francolin, Ruppell's Parrot, Damara Rock Runner, and Hartmann's Zebra.

There are also species that, although not endemic, are extremely rare and have found refuge in the
Erongo Mountains, e.g. Peregrine Falcon and Booted Eagle, which are almost certainly breeding in the area. The striking Black Eagle can also be seen breeding in many parts of the Mountains. The area is fenced off and is home to numerous re-introduced endangered Black Rhino and the near-endemic Black-Faced Impala. Walking in the area is considered safe, however, there are some potentially dangerous animals such as Leopard and Baboon roaming the area, and guests are asked to take great care when walking beyond the perimeter of the lodge itself.

Property Facilities:

The Lodge consists of a main building with a thatched roof dome, which hosts the welcome area with reception, guest lounge, public bar and restaurant which can seat up to 50 guests - serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The swimming pool is surrounded by a deck with sun beds and next to it a shaded area with table and chairs.

Attractions:

Behind the lodge starts an unguided, marked hiking trail, which takes about 45 minutes to complete.

Other hiking options or nature walks on our premises can be enquired at the lodge.

We also offer various guided excursions, where you discover the impressive geology of Ai Aiba and we explain the flora and fauna of the region.

From our open 4x4 vehicles you can view the impressive rock formations and sites of rock paintings, of which some are up to 2000 years old.

Sundowner tours - Sip on your favorite drink, while admiring the magic of the breathtaking landscape, gently touched by the mystic colors of the setting sun .
