Caledon owes its existence to the presence of hot water springs, which rise on the southern side of the nearby mountain range. The town has another, more down-to-earth but no less celebrated draw card, the Wild Flower Garden and Reserve.
Vigilant fynbos lovers will spot good representatives of a number of species. A not-too demanding hiking trail passes the Window Rock, a famous photo opportunity from where the lie of the land and its panoramic vastness may be observed.
