Bontle Lodge is a natural gem, perfectly nestled in the Welgevonden Game Reserve, situated in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Our name means ‘beauty’ in Sesotho, a native South African language, and it is not a coincidence that everything in and around the lodge is alluring, from our outdoor showers facing the bushveld to the river that runs through the lodge. The accommodation at Bontle Lodge offers nothing less than a 5-star experience. We have five rooms, one of which is a honeymoon suite. This allows us to create an intimate atmosphere for our guests, giving them free reign over all recreational areas as though they are alone. Within each room, a combination of traditional doors and nets are in place, accompanied by fans that help you experience a feeling of connection with nature even while being indoors. Perfect for couples, each beautifully decorated room boasts a king-size bed, however, this can be separated into two single beds upon request. The tranquil atmosphere of the lodge and nature reserve offers an escape from everyday life.

At Bontle Lodge, guests are treated to a three-meals a-day taste adventure inspired by both African and international cuisine and handcrafted by a private chef. Breakfast is a selection of fruits, yoghurts, cheese, and cold meats alongside a hot cooked meal, whilst lunch is a mouth-watering cuisine tailored to guests’ preferences. The dinner experience rounds off the day with an exquisite three-course meal paired with a delicious local or international beverage. And this exciting journey for the taste buds wouldn’t be complete without some snacks to fill up in between.

From the moment you arrive at Bontle Lodge, you will be surrounded by incredible sights and experiences, like a majestic river that runs close to the rooms, which are a stone's throw from animal tracks and hangouts. Bontle Lodge offers a complete classic African Safari experience. We have morning and afternoon game drives per day that give you a front-row seat to endless views of the unspoilt bushveld, animals and birds. The reserve is also home to the Big Five and countless other animals such as antelope, eland, duiker, cheetahs and wildebeest. Visitors to this reserve will be delighted by a wide range of rare and unusual species on offer. These include brown hyena, aardwolf, pangolin and aardvark - some of which can only be spotted after dark on an evening game drive with one of our knowledgeable rangers. For the bird-lovers there are 300 bird species that can be seen on the reserve, including fish eagle and rare blue cranes, which breed in the southern section early in the year.
