Phophonyane Falls Ecolodge is nestled in the dramatic mountain landscape of north-west Swaziland, amid tumbling waterfalls and lush natural forests. It is a favourite destination for discerning travellers and nature lovers seeking a romantic and revitalising hideaway in a setting of stunning natural beauty. The Ecolodge is designed to maximize the experience of our special environment, and to ensure that we fully live up to our motto of "Peace, Privacy, Paradise".
Property Facilities:
The Driftwood Restaurant at Phophonyane has a romantic and tasteful African ambience, spaciously laid out with high ceilings and spectacular views over the surrounding mountains and valleys. The a-la-carte menu has a variety of dishes, including Swazi traditional dishes, and a wine list with a good selection of fine South African wines. The magnificent viewing deck is always available to guests for meals at their request.

There is a very comfortable lounge area with a great collection of travel and art books, as well as a well stocked library for the convenience of guests.

Good reception for all South African and Swazi cell networks is available at the Lodge.

In the evening the gardens are adorned with a warm gentle glow from a network of pathway lights that lead you to the stylishly furnished restaurant where you are treated to home cooked meals.

One can enjoy a sundowner on the restaurant veranda overlooking the valley. For those chilly wintry nights one can enjoy a romantic evening in front of an open log fire.

Community Homestead Walk. Guided walks to the nearby local community are an excellent way of learning about Swazi rural life. Guests are also encouraged to visit the local primary school and interact with the schoolchildren and the teachers. The guide will answer your questions about Swazi cultural and traditional life.

Gobolondo Ridge Trail. This is perhaps the most scenic of all hikes in Swaziland. It follows the Gobolondo Mountain Ridge through rare montane forest , with views over the Makhonjwa Mountains, Lake Matsamo and east towards Mananga Mountain and the Lubombo Escarpment.

Gobolondo Mountain Drive

This takes you to one of Swaziland's most dramatic viewpoints. Guests can either take the 20 minute hike up the mountain or the longer trail along the mountain ridge.

Nsangwini Rock Art Centre

Located 10km south east of Pigg's Peak, the Centre sits high above the Komati River. An estimated 4000 years ago, the San (Bushman) people used Swaziland's western highveld granite areas, including Nsangwini, for spiritual rituals and recorded iconic moments in their lives through etchings on the ancient rocks.
