Quiet Days in Oudtshoorn
Karoo Retreat is close to the centre of town, at 41 Klein Karoo Street. A nearby restaurant and shops, but still feels more secluded. Garden and other outdoor areas are available to offer shade, and a level of privacy, which can be a welcome change after a long drive. Guests report little traffic on the street, further adding to the private nature of enjoying the gardens on this street. Nothing dramatic, except that this is a quieter area of a busy travel area.
Oudtshoorn is traditionally recognized as the ostrich farming center and the harshness of the Klein Karoo. The Cango Caves can be found approximately 28 kilometres from Karoo Retreat. Other places around town that are well known are the Cango Wildlife Ranch and the local olive estates. However, it's possible that the most attractive feature of the visit is doing nothing.

Karoo Retreat is laid back. Comfortable and well positioned for sightseeing and quiet for a simple break. Not all holidays require a full itinerary. After a very busy week, at times a shade garden, a dip in the refreshing water and an evening in Klein Karoo are sufficient.
