AfriStay is a general blog about travel, food, homes, technology and the things people talk about. Most of what we write has an African angle: places to visit, dishes to try at home, and practical guides that work for readers on the continent and beyond.
Each article answers one question. How do you plan a quiet weekend away from your phone? How do you cook soft layered chapati at home? What should go in a small wardrobe for hot weather? You get the answer near the top, the steps or details after it, and the sources we used at the end.

Who writes AfriStay
Three writers share the work, and each has a page that lists every article they wrote.
- Marie Schmidt writes the travel and food guides, with a focus on practical plans, local dishes and the details worth checking before a trip.
- Denis Richter covers phones, apps and simple home projects, and ties each guide to the maker instructions.
- Hannah Ziegler writes about everyday habits, music and film, from Afrobeats records to packing for a long trip.
How we check facts
We check facts against sources we can link to. If we cannot find a source for a price, a date or a claim, we leave it out instead of guessing. Every article shows the date it was published, so you can judge how fresh it is.
Prices, opening times and app features change. When they do, we update the article. If you spot something out of date, please tell us through the Contact page. Say which article and what changed, and add a link to the source if you have one.
