Previously known as the Kleinplasie Open Air Museum, the Worcester Museum consists of a number of buildings laid out in the form of an old Cape farmyard and where old traditions are demonstrated to captive audiences. The museum is both highly educational and fun, farm animals roam the yard and children get to interact with them and enjoy the demonstrations. The demonstrations are carried out by staff wearing period costumes and include soap making, horse shoe smithing, sheep shearing and bread baking. Distilling of witblits, the local version of a high proof spirit, is done at the museum. During the grape harvesting season, visitors can help to extract grape juice for the making of witblits by using the age-old method of jumping into a vat and crushing them with bare feet!
