Die Kleipot is a friendly guesthouse situated in Colesberg in an ideal spot on the N1 highway between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Our guesthouse offers a warm welcome to all visitors and we take pride in making your stay as enjoyable as possible. We have 10 clean, well-appointed en-suite rooms many of which are suitable for families with queen/double and single beds.

In Room Facilities:

Each room is individually decorated and has complimentary tea and coffee tray, DStv (hotel select package), Electronic Safe, Bar Fridge and Electrical Blankets and most rooms have air-conditioners.

Area Information:

We are Located in the upper part of Colesberg approximately 1km from the N1 turn off. There are numerous facilities in Colesberg whether you are staying for just one night or longer.

Property Facilities:

Barbeque / braai facilities are available and we have a play area for children. There is secure undercover parking to protect your car from the blazing Karoo sun. To help you stay cool, we also have a swimming pool.
Facilities also includes an-house Restaurant, library and room service.

Attractions:

* Hiking and Mountain-biking: Well-marked trails are open on many farms in the area.
* Horse Mill: Situated in Bell Street. One of the country’s last working horse mills.

* Schutz and De Jager Building Church St.: The oldest building in Colesberg.

* Trinity Methodist Church: Established in 1840, the Methodist Society built its first chapel in Church Street. The new Trinity Methodist Church, in Durban Road, was built in 1882.
* Visit a Farm: Many of the country’s leading merino sheep and race horses studs are in this district. These historic farms may be visited on request. There are also game farms and hunting can be arranged for those who enjoy this sport. Outdoor enthusiasts may walk or hike and bird watchers can enjoy the abundant bird life.
* Walking Tours: Many of Colesberg’s original buildings, in pristine condition, are fine examples of early Karoo architecture. The Information Office will happily organize a walking tour lasting about three hours.
* Water Sports Enthusiasts: The Gariep Dam attracts outdoor and water sports enthusiasts. Here the Orange River flows over a 374 sq. kilometer area. The dam holds up to 5 958,3 cubic meters of water. Its wall is 947,9 m long and 90,5 high. There a variety of water sporting events and tours of the dam wall are conducted regularly.
* Learn of the approximately 40 families comprising the Karoo Nomads, get a grasp of local history, revisit the past in the old cemetery, and visit the town’s churches and many of its original reed-ceiling, yellowwood beamed homes where you will enjoy the uniquely Karoo architecture and warm hospitality.

All roads lead through Colesberg - Colesberg is rich on history of the War between the Britsh and the Boors. Old houses like Coniston Guesthouse, build in 1835, use to be the Hospital during that time and during your stay, please ask around or contact me on 0713.537.537 - the Info Centre [ great restaurants and shops]
