The Crown, a guesthouse on the outskirts of Bethlehem, is a unique oasis of culture and gracious living, with warm old-fashioned hospitality. It is the ideal base to further explore the many splendors of the eastern Free State.

Area Information:Bethlehem lies in the eastern Free State, in particular in the Dihlabeng district, one of the most spectacular provinces of South Africa. It is one of the six larger towns in the Free Sate and offers a diverse range of services. For the assurance of the prospective visitor, there are two provincial hospitals, one private hospital, a recovery facility as well as a day clinic with the backing of exceptional medical expertise. Bethlehem is also base to Aerocare, air ambulance should the need arise for emergency transport.
Property Facilities:The garden at The Crown is in more than one way a delight. The extensive recycling policy of The Crown ensures that the flowers beds and vegetable garden are well fertilized – the vegetable garden is 100% organic and currently being expanded to grow a greater variety.
Attractions:Clarens is quite famous and has earned itself the definition of Art Mecca of South Africa. Apart from the numerous galleries, gift shops and restaurants, the area is extremely rich in culture and heritage.

I really enjoy smaller towns, its close to Clarence and accommodation is reasonable
The people are friendly and the town is situated in the most beautifull part of the Free State.

Enjoyed dinner at the Wooden Spoon.
It is a small town, but it has all the necessary shops and restaurants.
We went for a doctor's visit, so we did not really move around. We found the bit of shopping that we did very nice and the people very friendly. In summer time this is a very friendly "Platteland" town. Lots of eating places and easy shopping.
Central located.
We found Bethlehem clean and enjoyed the restaurants and pubs.
Less traffic in Bethlehem.
The food and service at Ocean Basket were excellent.
