Quaggasfontein Private Nature Reserve is a private game reserve where wildlife and their environment are as important to us as our guests. We are proud of the tame nature of the wild animals and strive enthusiastically to maintain this state of affairs in order that game may be viewed and photographed in their natural habitat at close range. The landscape consists mainly of vast open plains spread with numerous hillocks, hills and plateaus with magnificent stone outcrops.

Guest accommodation comprises double bedroom suites, each with a private bathroom with a bath or a shower. A guest suite with an adjoining room are situated adjacent to the Manor House, making it an ideal family room. Between the Manor House and the Cottage, is a separate suite, adjacent to the swimming pool and the pool bar and games room.

Quaggasfontein is currently home to two of the Big 5 game types that exist wild in Africa, namely the White rhino and the buffalo. Other species to be found include springbok, Red hartebeest, Blue wildebeest, Black wildebeest, eland, letchwe, Mountain zebra and impala. There are also sable, warthog, Mountain reedbuck, Common reedbuck, aardwolf, aardvark, caracal, and ostrich.

On-site activities include daily game drives, game walks, tennis, swimming, darts, table tennis, pool table, croquet, visits to the von Plettenberg beacon site, star-gazing, and visits to the Bushman rock etchings.

Safari: We are proud of the tame nature of the wild animals and strive vigorously to maintain this state of affairs in order that game may be viewed and photographed in their natural habitat at close range.

Quaggasfontein is a hidden gem 30 kms off the road at Colesberg. If driving on N1 it is definitely worth stopping there overnight, or even making it a destination and part of your holiday. The hospitality and welcome was amazing - the hosts couldn't do enough for us. There are antelope aplenty, so may different varieties, as well as other game. Rooms were perfectly comfortable, shower amazing and the dinner after a long drive was so good! We will definitely return and recommend it highly to anyone travelling in the vicinity of Colesberg.

We stopped over at Quaggasfontein on our way to Cape Town
This was our first time, and we were received like long lost family..Jessie is so friendly.
After enjoying a cold beer under the trees we were taken to the lodge, Our room was clean and very comfortable with an excellent view of the watering hole. At 17.30 we were taken on a game drive to view the large variety of game on the farm. It was fantastic. On return dinner was served at the main house. The food and wines were excellent.
I have nothing but praise for Quaggasfontein Private Game Reserve ...It was fantastic in every way and excellent value. This will certainly be our stopover of choice in future.

What a fantastic experience. We where welcomed like old family friends by Jessie.
The main guest house was full so we where offered accomodation in the lodge which is 3 km down the road. The lodge is still under constuction but the rooms where beautiful and the location is stunning.
This is a true African experiance , sitting by the watering hole and listening to the wildlife in the unspoilt vastness of this amazing reserve.
Dinner at the guest house was amazing , with wonderfull home cooked meal and the best hospitality one could hope for. A delicious three course meal was served with a selection of fine wines.
Before dinner we where taken on a game drive and experienced first hand the wildlife that abounds on this reserve. This was fantastic with many photo opportunities.
A visit to Quaggafontein Private Game Reserve is a must do for anyone , I rate it 10 out of 10.

All roads lead through Colesberg - Colesberg is rich on history of the War between the Britsh and the Boors. Old houses like Coniston Guesthouse, build in 1835, use to be the Hospital during that time and during your stay, please ask around or contact me on 0713.537.537 - the Info Centre [ great restaurants and shops]
