Lady Grey is one of the most scenic towns in the Eastern Cape, regarded as the jewel in the crown. It is beautifully set in a valley against the backdrop of mountains and has many trees and interesting historic buildings. It lends itself to various outdoor activities and events such as the Passion Play, MacNab and the Skyrun.

Mountain View Country Inn, Boutique Hotel, is situated in the heart of Lady Grey. It is in a quiet area yet within walking distance from the business center. The historic building dates to the 1870’s when it was the Commercial Hotel. The original style was Victorian, but a double-story extension called for the older section to change to fit in with the Edwardian style.

Throughout the years there were many owners, but the Hotel was in general well maintained. The Oertel family had it for the past 20 years during which all rooms were individually decorated, each in its own style, without compromising the character of the building.

Rooms are of various sizes, and all have en-suite bathrooms and modern comforts such as electric blankets and heaters as well as Wifi and Flat screen TVs offering various channels.

The hotel also has a fully licensed a la Carte Restaurant and Conference Facilities.

Enjoy old-fashioned hospitality, spectacular views and sunsets, and nature on your doorstep at Mountain View Country Inn Boutique Hotel.

In Room Facilities:

Facilities include free Wi-Fi, a TV with 9 channels, coffee and tea, basic toiletries, heaters and electric blankets to keep you warm during winter. A backup power supply keeps the lights on during load shedding. Electric sockets have been installed at strategic points to make it comfortable for the guest to plug in and charge phones and electrical devices or work comfortably at a desk. The Inn has a strong bore-hole that supplies clean water to the Inn, even when there is a drought. Most rooms have a teddy on the bed to keep you company in case you are alone.

Area Information:

Lady Grey is situated in the North-Eastern Cape, just below Lesotho, in the Southern Drakensberg. The village is on the Maluti Route, close to Aliwal North and about 2 hours from Bloemfontein.

The quiet, beautiful mountains, quaint little town. Comfey cottage was lovely. Had dinner at a lovely restuarant that went out of their way to accommodate us.
