Die Agterplaas is situated at the foot of the historical Melville Koppies. The view, tranquillity and bird life easily lull visitors into forgetting they're in South Africa's busiest city. Yet the attractions of the Melville boutiques, bookshops, coffee bars, and nightclubs are just a stone's throw away. We are approximately 3 kilometers from Johannesburg University, and 7 kilometers from Wits
Die Agterplaas offers 14 en suite rooms which can be configured as singles, doubles or twins (two beds). There is also a very spacious cottage with self-catering facilities, suitable for guests who are staying for longer periods. The cottage has a delightful private garden. All units have air conditioners, fans, heaters, TV, a bar fridge and coffee/tea facilities with complimentary juices and cold drinks. Lock-up garages are available at no extra cost. Our establishment offers free Wi-Fi.
A variety of breakfasts is served in the large dining room with authentic Oregon Pine flooring and pressed steel ceilings. We also offer limited informal conference facilities.
In Room Facilities:24Hours free Wi-Fi access, TV, Bar fridge, very quiet rooms, old world stylishness, all have private bath/shower
Area Information:Melville is famous for its abundance of restaurants, coffee-, book- and other shops that make it exciting to tourists and business people from all over South Africa and abroad. It is a residential area where scores of people from the arts, education, and media have been settling over the past half a century. This might be part of the reason that visitors describe people here extremely friendly and interesting. Johannesburg has a wealth to discover in terms of recent history and is well situated to briefly experience some of South Africa's nature, archeological sites and leisure for those who do not have time for a visit to the Kruger Park, the Garden Route, etc. Proximity to Malls, tertiary institutions, media and theatres, hospitals, etc.
Property Facilities:Lovely patio, garden and veranda-areas, spacious dining room with work areas and a view on the famous Melville Koppies - wi-fi available all over. Small conferences and receptions arranged with authentic South African food served. Tours to Soweto and inner-city, Apartheid Museum, Kruger Park, Sun City, Cradle of Mankind, etc arranged. Wake up each morning at Die Agterplaas with a full English breakfast, available at R90.00 per person, in the characteristic dining room. The in-house chefs can also prepare lunch and dinner upon request.
Attractions:Nothing better than continental style "7de Laan" or Seventh Street restaurants, pubs and shops.
