Located close to the center of Franschhoek in a serene and utterly beautiful setting, Villa Amelie is only a short stroll from all the pretty boutiques, great restaurants and cafés. This country styled home has stunning mountains views and feels very well cared for. The owner is a renowned interior designer and no detail goes amiss. It is plush, luxurious and homely.

Upon arrival you immediately feel soothed and impressed by the complete feel and attention to detail – it wraps you up, a place one can imagine never leaving. And there is a wonderful house manager, Lucky, who cooks breakfast every morning and is at hand to ensure you are well looked after throughout your stay.

There is a very spacious living room, a dining room that seats 12 people and a TV/entertainment lounge area which leads onto a large open plan country-styled kitchen. The entire space is very well thought out and inviting, and is perfect for a group of friends or family to enjoy.

From the kitchen is another living room/entertainment area overlooking the pastures and mountains, and this leads out onto the terrace with access to the swimming pool and pretty gardens. All the living and entertainment areas capture the views perfectly, and the outside terrace is accessed by lovely large doors, a wonderful space for relaxing during the lazy, hazy summer days.

For a large group, everyone can still maintain their own privacy; the bedrooms are very spacious and divided up into separate wings. The master bedroom is on its own private floor upstairs with the most beautiful views. It has an ensuite bathroom with a luxury bath tub and dual shower and a large dressing room. There is also an additional bedroom leading from the master bedroom via an inter-leading door which could sleep two children or 1 older child if required.

The village vibe and how safe it is. Also, everyone can walk to where they want to go, instead of getting into a car every time.

What a fantastic experience on the Franschoek Wine Tram! 10 stars from us. Take some time to research which estates you would like to visit to choose the best route. We chose the Grey route and stopped at Franschoek Cellar, Leopards Leap and Rickety Bridge as these were all child friendly options. We will definitely be back without the kids ;) Also, great service and food at the River Café.

Superb. 5 out of 5
