It is quiet and serene. The beach is easy to access and many people run on the beach or next to it. A great place to visit if you enjoy being active. Also, a very dog friendly place. I would recommend Mozambik for a relaxed meal, but be prepared for noise: it is a very popular location! Both Table Mountain and Robben Island are visisble from Blouberstrand. with Uber, you can get around pretty easily to just about any location.

We want to thank Marko and his team for their friendliness and welcoming us with open arms on the 4th of July 2022. He gave us a tour through the apartment and made sure that we had all the things we need. The apartment was well cleaned and had all the equipment needed. It is walking distance to the beach and there is a lot of restaurants to choose from in the area. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend it for anyone. Sunset court will definitely see us again. Thank you Marko for everything.

Lying on Cape Town's northern Atlantic Seaboard is the stunning suburb of Bloubergstrand. There are quite number of things to do in Bloubergstrand, but the main attraction has to be the beaches, which include Big Bay Beach and Bloubergstrand beach. Bloubergstrand beach is a great place to truly enjoy the sunshine and great weather Cape Town has to offer, as well as the asoundingly beautiful views of South Africa's Natural World Wonder - Table Mountain. Take the kids or go for a stroll along the long stretch of Bloubergstrand beach at sunset and revel in its beauty - just don't forget your camera!

Things to do

Big Bay is a popular beach for all water sport enthusiasts, including surfing, kite-surfing, and wind surfing. It is also equally lovely for a family day out. Restaurants and shops can also be found conveniently right on the beachfront.

Cape Town city centre is only 20 minutes away by car, so you can still enjoy all the activities there are available in Cape Town. The V&A Waterfront is also located in the vicinity of the city centre. It is a must visit for all tourist and locals alike, among other wonderful attractions in the city. Ratanga Junction is also located 20 minutes away from Bloubergstrand. It is a fun-filled theme park open over the summer holidays and selected weekends that is guaranteed to thrill both kids and adults alike.

If you want to play some golf, Milnerton Golf course and the Atlantic Beach Golf Club is a stone’s throw away from Bloubergstrand.

Another great attraction is Robben Island, the famous prison where South Africa's iconic freedom fighter, Nelson Mandela, was held for 27 years. You can view it from Bloubergstrand and travel to Waterfront if you want to visit the island.

Where to eat

For delicious dishes on the menu that include tasty seafood and delectable sushi, be sure to book at Blowfish Restaurant which is literally across the road from the beach.

Located right at the edge of the water, is Café Blouberg. For really simple dishes and quick meals be sure to visit this family friendly restaurant.

For a restaurant with a great view of Table Mountain and Robben Island you might find it hard to resist going to one of the most exquisite restaurants in Cape Town; On the Rocks serves you mouth watering menu from breakfast to supper.

For a fresh, modern setting, you can visit the Zandbar Restaurant. It is located right on the Bloubergstrand beachfront, perfect if you’re looking for a vibrant and chic dining atmosphere.

For a variety of Malaysian, Japanese and Chinese dishes, among others, be sure to visit Yo Eastern Fusion located in Big Bay. They serve yummy noodle dishes and flavorsome spicy curries.

There is a lovely restaurant situated in Big Bay called Aomori Japanese Restaurant. They serve all the sushi favourites – you can even have it delivered to you while basking in the sun on the beach!

Ciao Baby Cucina is a very nice cosy, Italian restaurant that serves pastas, pizza and lamb shank and its dessert menu include Tiramisu and Zuccoto.

Ons Huise serves you traditional afrikaaner dishes which includes Strandlopers Mussel Pot and Ostrich bobotie, which is a dish consisting of mince meat with an egg-based topping. This is a much loved dish in South Africa.

Where to stay

For those wanting to stay in a convienient spot located near everything such as restaurants and shops there are lots of lovely apartments and hotels that are available for accommodation on the beachfront.

If you want to wake up and take a morning stroll on the beach, the beach houses would suit you better. These are ideally better for bigger groups.

For a nice bed and breakfast accommodation, there are lovely guesthouses scattered all over Bloubergstrand, also conveniently located near to shopping centres and other recreational facilities.

Transport

Air: You can fly into Cape Town via the Cape Town International Airport and then travel from the airport to Bloubergstrand via a cab or the Myciti Bus.

Car rental: You can get to Bloubergstrand and travel around Cape Town by renting a car. You can conveniently organize your car rental online.

Taxi/cabs: There are lots of cab services available, which can also be organized over the telephone or online.

Bus: The MyCiti Bus is available from Tableview, and is an easy and affordable to get to and from the airport, as well as into town.
