Gauteng in South Africa is a hub of activity and action; the most populated province in the country is home to the economic hub of Johannesburg as well as the capital of Pretoria in northern Gauteng. The province’s state-of-the-art airport in OR Tambo International provides travellers with easy and unfettered access to most of the major ports in Africa as well as those right across the globe.
The lovely, charming suburb of Centurion has become a mini-city of its own and is a convenient midway point between Pretoria and Johannesburg. Probably best known for its super shopping complex – home to a massive 200 stores and amongst the largest in South Africa, - Centurion has in recent years evolved into a lifestyle venue of choice for many South Africans who don’t want to put up with the congestion of Jo’burg and Pretoria, but need quick and direct access to either or both. Indeed Centurion boasts an enviable location with visitors able to link easily between the major cities in the province, as well as the airport, and top tourist attractions in other states.
Besides Centurion Mall, popular haunts include the Rietvlei Nature Reserve, which is one of the world’s largest urban nature reserves located on a whopping 3800 hectares of terrain. Another outstanding nature adventure can be found at the Roodeplaat Dam Nature Reserve, which has abundant wild life, marine life, and bird watching opportunities. Centurion is also home to many pristine, championship-styled golf courses, with the Blue Valley Golf Course, Centurion Golf Course, and Zwartkop Golf Course being the most sought after.
Self Catering places can be found from rural to urban areas and can vary in what they offer. They allow plenty freedom and is a great inexpensive way to spend your holiday. They have been widely classified as a “Home away from home”. This is a good option for guests who don’t mind cooking their own food, and are looking for a more independent and flexible form of accommodation. For budget and large families, we would recommend self-catering for a more personalised experience.
