Birdwatchers in the Tsitsikamma national park might find themselves wondering at the idea of a camp where wildlife is suited to them, first and foremost. Asleep in the De Vasselot region of the park, tucked into a lush and abundant forest, lies the beautiful Nature’s Valley rest camp. Exquisite walking trails extended all over the area mean guests have access to vast areas of serene, natural environments, flecked with colour, plumage, gorgeous fynbos and monolithic natural rock faces towering over this peaceful scene. Understood by those who visit here to be a bird enthusiast’s wildest dream come true.
Basic accommodation at the camp is supplied in a series of forest huts, which have undergone heavy construction and renovation recently. All huts have electricity points, adjoining ablutions, and coin operated laundry services.
Camp grounds are also available to guests, incorporating communal ablutions and laundry facilities, and playing host to (at any time) a maximum of six people per site. Camp sites are not built with electricity point facilities.
Popular activities at the camp include three incredible hiking trails, including the Salt River Mouth Trail, The Kalander Trail, and the Groot River Trail.
Guests may decide, instead, to take to the rushing waters of this area in a charming canoe trip between the camp and Groot River mouth. For less organised fun, an afternoon spent splashing each other in the surf on the Groot River estuary can be more fun than any planned activity, and guest families regularly find themselves congregating for an afternoon in the sun at Nature's Valley beach.
The camp’s facilities incorporate estaurant and shop facilities, a curio shop, laundromat and filling stations, as well as post office and police services.
